This stony formation resembles both the Hedgehog and the Scrubber. However, unlike other artifacts, Steel Hedgehog has non-moving protrusions, and its glow is noticeably dimmer.

It can be conjectured that the Steel Hedgehog is the final stage of the Hedgehog's metamorphosis, where all internal resource reserves have been completely depleted, and energy to sustain processes begins to be generated by the decomposition of metal-containing salts from the soil.
