Despite the fact that the Sponge always consists of three fragments, the most important of them is definitely the small quartz crystal at its center.

What makes the Sponge—or rather its "core"—truly peculiar is that any attempt to separate the other parts causes them to disintegrate instantly, only to be replaced by small solid formations that gradually take the shape of the separated fragments.
