A biochemical artifact of rather unsightly appearance, resembling a coiled larva.

While scientists in the artifactology department express doubts about certain properties akin to a living organism found in the sample, some members of the flora and fauna study department believe it to be a larva of an unknown underground mutant in a state of anabiosis, which nonetheless doesn't explain the artifact's anomalous properties.

Superstitious stalkers prefer not to handle Larva with bare hands. According to some rumors, after such contact, clusters of small holes resembling lotus seeds may appear on the skin.
